    I have a 1999 Johnson 90 hp model J90PLEEB and tried cranking boat today but its not firing on any cylinders, ran good last time tried in yard

    If you don't have spark at spark plugs then remove the black/yellow wire from power pack and check for spark, spark should jump a 7/16" gap. If have spark then you have a problem with key switch, landyard switch or wiring between key switch and engine. If still don't have spark then check peak voltage output of stator, trigger coils and power pack output to coils. You will need a peak reading voltmeter to run voltage test.

      Will a regular multi tester do peak reading

        No it wont, they make a direct voltage adapter that will plug into some digital meters. Do a internet search for Peak reading multimeter, they are not that expensive. Check all wire connections are not corroded and are tight and remove the black/yellow wire and retest for spark first before changing a stator.
