  • Question About Conventional Fuel Pump

I just purchased a boat with a 1999 40 HP Johnson Outboard model #J4OPLEEA . I am in the process of rebuilding the carbs and am thinking about removing the VRO pump for a conventional fuel pump. I am going to plug the pulse nipple hole that leads to the hose that goes to the VRO pump. I am going to mount the pump onto the port side of the block where there is a pulse port. My question is, does anyone know the proper pump that I need to purchase and model #? Thanks, Dave

You would need number 1, 19 and 14 in this link:

Thank you for the reply. Just to get this right, I'm going to be getting my pulse for the pump, from the rear of the pump mounted to the engine block. I can then just plug the pulse nipple on the bottom of the pump.
