1982 6 hp johnson

Hello anyone;

New member.Just purchased the above with following problem. Engine revs up without a miss to max in neutral but down to about 1000 revs in forward with throttle / linkage wide open. No abnormal gear sounds engine idles well but just runs slow. Has new coils & fuel pump.

Check compression, spark at plugs. May need to remove and clean carbs, fuel tank and check fuel lines.
