I.A.C. Valve

I have a 2004 Johnson 90hp 4-stroke. It was bought new and I am having problems with Idle and cold running. It appears to sort of misfire till it warms up then it runs fine after that. How do you check the IAC valve. I had it off and it's not dirty.
