1992 175 Intermittent Shutdown

My 1992 175 looper will run fine for hours at a time and suddenly die just as if you turned off the ignition key or pulled the safety kill switch cable. Today it did it after being in the ocean off Cape Lookout NC and I had made it back inside. Motor would turn over but would not start. Suddenly after about 10 minutes of looking and wondering what the problem was, it fired right off. I feel certain there is a loose wire or electrical problem. Any ideas would be appreciated.
