Default 2000 250hp Ocean Pro

I had a new SEI ( Stern Drive ) lower unit last about 45 miles going off shore last season. I had to send it back and they sent me another one.

This Ocean Pro is attached to a 2000 255CC Sea Pro. I've read where these SEI lower units won't hold up on big deep V boats over 200 hp.. I put the replacement back on the boat but haven't taken it back out - I don't think I will, I can't trust it.

Thinking about a OMC new lower unit - cost about 2K compared to the $800 for the SEI. New OMC lower unit has a one yr. warranty compared to a 3 yr. on the SEI. There has to be a difference between the two besides the price - the OMC I'm thinking is a better built unit - made to handle big hp..

Can anyone give me any information on the OMC compared to the SEI units...? I just don't think the SEI units can hold up to 250 hp @ near WOT pushing 6000+ lbs. for 3 hrs. offshore ( then you have to get back to the hill ). Any help is appreciated.....I need to get the boat back in the water.
