Replacing a rusty steering arm (Johnson 1990 225 HP) and have a problem with split bearing shaft seat on the lower arm. Original (rusty) has a square face on the area where the split bearing goes........replacement steering arm is tapered at a slightly different location. Overall length of shafts is the same.
Questions: 1.what parts do I have? 2. do they make a tapered split ring? Looking for a local machine shop to modify the shaft (not sure it is a good idea), but so far no luck and most shops are closed for the holiday.
