Remote Control work question

1986 90hp Johnson w/OMC controller (J90TLCDC). Tilt trim switch is badly corroded so I would like to remove the tilt trim portion (0329873 plastic piece) of the control arm. I am going to place a tilt trim switch on the center console so I do not need the 0329873 plastic piece. How do I get to the screws holding it? Looks like access is behind the Neutral slide lock (0332428) and two where the APPLIQUE would be. I need to remove so I can sand and repaint the main controller arm (0327164) and place new APPLIQUE on the 0327164 control arm. Thanks.
