1994 225hp won't turn over

I'm expecting the worst but thought I would ask. This morning was on the mooring, engine idling, heard a clanking, clunking sound and engine began running rough and then died. Waited a minute, made sure nothing was around prop area, re-started and starter jammed and started to smoke (engine would not turn completely over) cut off power. Removed all plugs and tried to hand turn engine. Flywheel goes left and right but comes to a stopping point and will not turn farther.

Was just getting ready to sell boat so now I'm really bummed but was hoping to get some feedback on whether it is a death toll or something different.

Unfortunately it does sound like you blew the motor.
