I have a J25RESB Outboard. I just replaced the starter pawls and all the appropriate hardware but I can't get the pull rope to rewind. I get one pull then I have to take the entire pull start assembly off and rewind it by hand. Any suggestions?
Be sure that the tips of the rewind spring are hooked, when you install the rope before installing the handle, spin the starter pulley so there is existing resistance on the rope. Then finish your install.
