Replacement lower unit gears 76 25EL76E

I have 1976 25hp Johnson outboard. 25EL76E
I replaced the forward gear and clutch dog 4 years ago and they are showing
wear.

I've been told that the 2 ear and slot style have been superceded
by a 3 ear slot style.

The old part numbers are forward gear 0384566 and clutch dog 0316501.

The alleged superceded numbers are 0390975 forward gear and clutch dog
0325263. These are 3 ear and slot style gears. Naturally I would also have to replace the reverse gear.

MY QUESTION IS ARE THESE 3 ear/slot parts compatible with my engine.

Please do not refer me to a parts list. If you don't know.
