I want to test my charging coil for poutput. My manual directs me to set voltmeter to neg. and 500. I am using a multimeter. Do I set switch to VDC @500. There are a couple tests where I am directed to set switches to neg. I do not have switch to select neg. Am I ok using the digital multimeter?

Volts Direct Current (VDC), should be sufficient to check charging output.
