1995 Ocean Pro 200 noise

Twin 1995 200 HP ocean pro on an Aquasport. Stbd engine developed a ticking noise from the front of the engine. Removibg the air box and listening in the carbs, noise is there. No noise from any where else. Engine runs fine and Port engine has no noise. Possible broken reed? Sounds like a 4 cycle auto engine lifter, but not as metalic. Does not appear to change with RPM changes. Any ideas?

I do not suspect a broken reed as you would notice a difference in the way it runs. Its hard to say without personally checking out.
