Default 76 johnson 200 tilt trim help

I have a 76 johnson 200 and am having trouble with the tilt trim I at first the switch would only work in the down postition I could hear the motor working but it would not do anything. I went to put a new switch on and jumped the power wire to the down wire and it still would run the motor but wouldnt do anything. I jumped the power to the up wire and nothing happends. I filled the fluid level, checked the fuse, and couldnt see any loose connections. any help would be great thank you.

Sounds like the up relay needs to be replaced. If the unit is all the way down, the motor will run but will not do anything. Replace the relays and try again.
