Johnson Water pumps

Ordered pump for 96 J175EXEDB using this model number. Received a 5001594 which has the spray hole in the housing. My old housings did not. I am lead to believe the spray hole is for the earlier design non split line gear cases. And the split line gear cases did not use the spray hole which was used for extra cooling of the exhaust tube on 25 inch plus shafts???. Also I am having trouble finding a pump for a 86 70hp Johnson (j70elcdc). That part number comes up as 0396729 and appears unavailable. Any thoughts out there on these pumps, would really appreciate it. Thanks.

The 5001594 water pump kit is a superceeded kit, the change in the kit may be the spray hole. That kit should work properly. As for the 70hp the new water pump kit number is 0432955. The following link should assist you.
