1998 Lower unit for 50 HP Interchangeability

hello,
I was wondering if i can use a 89-92 lower unit on my J50TSLECC outboard. I've been looking that the lower units and there seems to be very little difference between the 89-92 models and the 93 + models. about all i can tell is that one bolt is shorter (#68 in the parts lists). i've been trying to find a reasonably priced lower unit to replace mine but have had very little luck.

I do not recommend the attempt as the gearcase itself is different. The exact difference is not stated.
