2006 15hp johnson problem

I was cruising full throttle today and all of a sudden it lost foward momentum and started revving real high... I thought it might be a spun prop but the prop seems fine and now it does the same thing at about half or a lil less throttle but lower speeds its fine... any ideas???

Sounds like a spun prop. The lower unit does not have clutches and you should be able to hear gears grinding if you broke some teeth.

Is there any way to check it or do i just buy another and test it out?
