Default Install Teleflex with 2003 Johnson 25 Long Shaft

I have a 1979 13' Boston Whaler Sport with a 2003 Johnson 25 Long Shaft. I want to convert the pulley/cable steering to Teleflex. Can I utilize the existing tilt tube for the connection? I have noticed on the Whaler forum that some users have had to use a manufactured front mount tilt tube. My whaler has a regular transom whereas it seems the people who utilized the manufactured tilt tube had the shorter transom (cut-out) on really old Whalers. They used the manufactured tilt tube to avoid using the transom mount teleflex connection. I am looking at clarification before I source the parts. Thanks.

The tilt tube on motor will work ok if you have enough clearance for the steering cable to fit into tilt tube and it wont be in a bind, but you would need a link arm kit, part number 0173699
