Johnson Model 25RL79R
My Johnson 25 as you can tell from the model number is a long shaft. I can use it the way it is, but the transom on my Lund boat is ideal for a short shaft. When operating the boat with the long shaft and with only one person in the boat, this unit really gets up on plane but it is cause for uneasyiness. Not much boat in the water cuases for consternation. Is it possible to "shorten" the lower unit on this particular model. Looking at the lower unit, I can see that there are bolts that appear as though they connect an "extension" of the lower unit housing.
