  • gear oil change

i have just bought a 2002 johnson 50 h.p. 2 stroke. changing gear oil and have a pump to install lube, but the pump has a fitting on end of hose which is to big, my local dealer says it should fit my motor, but it doesn't. he gave me an adapter, and that is to big. looking at oil holes, i can't see any helecoils, or any sign of modifacations. i orderd a new seal kit for this motor and it came with new oil hole screws, and they screw into my motor no problem. i screw a 1/4-20 nut with my fingers and it went right on. the adapters that i have bought seem to be metric. do i have some kind of one of a kind special motor here? i would appreceate any info or help with this problem. i know there are other ways to get gear oil in this lower unit, but i,m just real curios why i seem to have 1/4-20 threads, and there doesn't seem to be any adapters out there for it. thank's bob.
