Replaced the water pump on this engine and during the course of disconnecting the shift linkage to drop the lower unit, I accidentally unscrewed the linkage from the top of the linkage rod instead of the nut that lies behind the intake screen.
Now I'm trying to determine if I can hit a blind target and reconnect the rod up high into the casing. Is there any danger of any coupling or seals that may had come off during my neglect?
Is there anyway of seeing this upper linkage joint without pulling the engine up off the case? I noticed other linkage reconnect threads aren't getting much response. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
