  • alarm going off

I have a 1994 175 hp Johnson. We replaced the powerhead last year with a new one (not rebuilt). Thinking that the Oiler could have caused the loss of the previous powerhead, we disconnected the oil injection system and removed the tank. Last year, the engine ran perfectly. Upon bringing it out this year, an intermittent alarm goes off at about 4000RPMs. When you pull the throttle back, it will go off in an very short period of time. Upon regaining 4000 or greater, it will fun for up to 1/2 of a mile before it goes off again. Since it is intermittent, I decided it is in the oil warning system. Can you suggest where to look to eliminate this problem

It may be getting hot. I would check the cooling system.
