New member here. What a nice surprise to find this forum researching my problem. I have anew to me boat with twin 2003 Johnson 150's. The first few trips out the motors ran great above 1500 rpm. They were a little sluggish under 1500. I figured they needed carb work. I called previous owner to see who he had been using for any problems. He indicated that the carbs had been rebuilt 1-2 yrs prior. That shop was quite a ways away so i took it to another shop (factory authorized BRP dealer) The mechanic called me and said the motors were in great shape and they only needed to be idled up a little. They also checked compression, no water in the fuel, and I assume hooked it up to a diagnostic computer. They only ran it in the shop on muffs and said it was good to go. First trip out i cranked the motors at the launch and they idled for 15 mins with no problem. I thought all was good. After the first stop neither motor wanted to idle or run under 1500 rpm +/-. Sometimes they would crank right up and sometimes they had to be choked. Sometimes the bulbs were tight and sometimes not. I fought this all day as we were fishing in very shallow water and idle speed was needed. As you increased throttle the engines would stall and die. Once you were able to get the motors to a higher rpm they ran like tops. Any suggestions on what I can try before I take it back to the shop? I was thinking new external fuel filters and fuel lines. Sorry for the long post.
