boat runs great when I first get on the lake but after it sits for a period of time (2 hours ) it will start but than stall on take off, once I get going it runs fine

We had some issues with this and ethanol gas. Try ethanol free gas first.
In 1999 the motors were really leaned out to placate the EPA. It is not legal for a shop to do this, but I have heard of some guys richening up the carb a little. Now, I've never done that myself, of course......Comment
