  • Alarm Issues

    Hi Guys

I've had a quick search but couldn't find much to assist my issue, bit long but thought I'd try cover as much info as possible to see what people thought?

    I've recently bought a 19ft guardian with a 1995 115 2stroke Johnson HJ115TLEOR

Had it running sweat on the muffs at home a few times before giving it a birthday, spark plugs, thermostats, fuel filter, leg oil and water pump. Up and running again all sweat.
First time at the ramp it would not start! We had fuel and spark but no fire!
Get it home it starts, next at the ramp of and running, 10minutes into the trip! Alarm gives of 5 or so beeps before the motor cuts! Sea rescue and $100 later!
Back at home the following week it starts and runs! Couple of small beeps but
It keeps running ! I decided to clean out 2 stroke oil tub and filter ect and fill with new oil!
Next weeks it's in the tub at home on ideal for ten minutes few revs and no worries, shut it down for a minute but then it won't start! Few small beeps from the alarm! I decided to pull forward controls apart, small 3 pin plug and one of the pins fall apart, was broken and must have just been touching, earth wire, fix that and all good, starts, stops and starts again! Sweat!
Next week thought I'd start at home again on the muffs, 2 minutes in the alarm goes again but this time consistent before cutting the motor, every time I try turn the key alarm goes off before it dies off, pull a parts control again tonight but all looks good, turn the key and the alarm has gone away! Will try start again this Saturday!
The last owner said he replace the oil / fuel pump, and alarm around 300 hours ago, rough history says she is about 800 to 900 old.

I'm thinking if it was the pump again it wouldn't let it start at all? Could the alarm be going causing it not to start or go off cutting the motor or am I well off?

    What should I check next?

Cheers in advance for any advise given!

    Regards Brock

      Cheers Mate

Just removed that today after more issues.

I was lead to look closely at sensor issues either Temp, VRO, oil pick up or the alarm by following the tan wire to eliminate the problem. I did find an exposed wire at one of the heads so cleaned it up and re insulated.

So this morning it started no worries so ran it for ten minutes with a few revs, temp at the heads seemed good with no alarm to hear. So got the all clear from the fun police to take out for a run, 30 minute drive to the ramp, in the water, pump fuel, choke, turn the key! Beeeeep....no start! Phuk!! Tried a few times! First thought was the kill switch like you said.

Back home I pulled the forward controls apart, pulled out the neutral and kill switch to check with the multi meter at a mates place, both are reading when they should, cleaned the earth connections put them both back in, turn key! Now I get nothing! So I'm thinking it's the key switch ? The tilt at the motor wouldn't even work, electrical issue some were, ill check the switch and few other bits once i buy a multi meter.

I'll have another play Wednesday, Thursday.

      Cheers for the reply.
