  • Prop Selection Help

I have a 23' Boston Whaler with twin 200Hp Johnson Ocean Runners on it (extended from the transom). The boat originated in South Carolina, but it is now up in Seattle, Washington area.

The boat won't plane with only one motor running. The boat gets up nicely, and planes well with both at 4,000 rpm. The fuel gauges show it taking about 11 gph on both motors. My friend sells boats, and thinks that is way too much fuel consumption. How can I determine if I've got the right props? At this point, I don't know the RPM at full throttle, because I haven't tested it to full throttle.

The Serial #'s and current prop designations are:
    #G03553700 / 188-140
    #G03552658 / 187-140

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Chuck
