Just bought this boat with 40hp Johnson VRO motor. When I tried it out it ran great except for 1 thing, when shifting into rev it revd to high then pow, went into gear. I thought the owner had the cables out of adj and went ahead and bought it. It has this problem,,, if I adjust cables where it will shift into rev ok, it does the same thing in forward with high revs before getting into gear. Never had one do this before. So bought new cable, then a shift control kit,,still does the same. All the grommets are in all the linkage and tight. When I adjust to shift correctly into forward, I have to push the lever on the block way back to go into reverse. I'm thinking now worn clutch dog, but I see there is a spring that goes with it. Anybody have Idea? Thanks Rick
