too much oil

My 2004 Johnson 150 is getting too much oil from the VRO system. It is smoking too much and unused oil is running down the sides of the motor. Is there a simple fix to this? Do I need to bypass the VRO system and start mixing my own oil in the fuel tank?

Glen: You've pretty much figured out your problem. That being the case, you can replace the VRO pump, or disconnect the oil line and mix your own. Cap the disconnect with a plug. You may get an oil alarm. If so, disconnect the plug to the VRO.
