  • Manuel start 25 hp long shaft

I have a 2004 long shaft rope start 25 hp 2 cycle outboard that has very low hours and starts generally with one pull. I do realize in the future this may not continue.
As I am getting older I am finding I would be much better served with an electric start motor. My question is since this motor is in such good condition is it economically viable to convert it to an electric start and if so how hard and expensive would it be?
    Any info would be appreciated.

    Regards, Bob

    Bob:
You can buy an accessory kit to add electric start. There are two kits, actually. One is just electric start; the other is electric start and charging system. I don't know what they cost now, but a dealer can tell you.
I bought a blown 30hp electric start about the same year as my 1984 35 and simply switched it over to my motor - for a fraction of the price.
