Hi everyone,

I have a 90hp johnson from 1983 the model for this one i know is J90TLCTE. The model number is clearly indicated on the top of the motor block in a little aluminum tag and also on the transom bracket...

My issue is not with this motor.

I have, today, acquired a parts motor, possibly a replacement for the 1983 motor because i have a torn up cylinder.

The new (to me) motor has the same aluminum tag on the top of the motor, but it has a serial number only, and no model number. The motor is also painted blue, which i believe indicates it is a commercial model?? The parts motor also did not come with the transom bracket so i cant look there... The person who gave me the motor was almost certain it was the same HP as mine, and it looks nearly identical except for a few things here and there.

How do i find out what year i have?? and which model?? any help would be appreciated.
