  • Too much water through indicator?

I have a 2006 2 stroke 25hp Johnson that I frequently run through mud. The indicator line often gets blocked at the point where the plastic hose barb is attached to the block. To remedy this, I replaced with a series of larger brass parts terminating in a 3/8" id plastic hose. The water now flows through it like a garden hose. I have run it in the driveway with the earmuffs and it did not seem to overheat. The motor has no temperature gauge or warning buzzer. Am I taking away some of the water used for cooling the engine? Is it possible to divert too much water through the indicator?

After a lot of internet searching, it sounds like the water passes through the indicator after all the cooling has happened. Anyone one else know if this is true?

      I learned three things
      1. If I push my motor hard enough, I can make it overheat which make me think I can divert too much water.
      2. My motor has a rev limiter when it overheats, fortunately.
      3. This site was absolutely useless for me
