    gear case release of a Johnson J40TELCRM

    Please advise how to release the Shift Rod on a Johnson J40TELCRM?thanks inadvance.

    Maybe someone else that has experience with your size motor can give you a little help here, on disconnecting your shift rod, to lower your gearcase.

    try shifting to forward and reverse to see if that helps access the connector. But remember how it comes apart, to get it back together, and don't unscrew the connector (that might change the adjustment on linkage and prevent going in and out of gear completely), it should have a pin and cotterpin.
