  • constant alarm beep

Hey guys I have a J40eletb and have just encountered an annoying problem. I ran the motor just the other day with no issues but now when I turn ignition to on, instead of getting the small beep to let me know the speaker still works (im assuming), I am getting the alarm constantly beeeeeeeping... it still allows me to start the motor also. The beep sometimes flickers like its trying to turn off and if I play with the ignition sometimes I can get the alarm to turn off. I'm pretty sure it must just be a fault in the console but you're the experts. What sensors could possibly be setting this off

It may be a bad switch, flickering in first position, causing initial beep to sound like it's on continuously. You should not be able to jiggle switch to turn buzzer off. It may also be a double problem, a problem with switch, and a sensor. I'd check connections at switch, and wiring leading to switch, if good connections (clean & not loose) then consider buying a new switch.

Good luck, post back you find anything.

Thanks mate. I pulled the console appart and turned the key and the bloody thing worked normally again haha. I poked around with the key still on and isolated the top terminal of the speaker to be the problem. The rubber insulation which fills the speaker box has perished over many years of punishment. The shovel pin is a bit sloppy and there is a bad connection inside obviously as when I touched it the alarm beeped again as if i had just turned the key again. Have wedged it into position so that it works for now and will order a new speaker. Cheers
