I just bought a boat for a very good deal and it is a 19 feet centre console with a johnson 115 faststrike V4. I am not sure which year the engine is but it starts well and looks in a very good shape. No tampering inside the bonnet. It starts with the first turn of the key without any issue. Since the boat was kept unused for a few weeks by the previous owner I have decided to take it out for a spin before buying it. While on the water I noticed that I was at full throttle from the remote at 3000rpm and the boat was not planing. I also noticed that when I was in full throttle the engine would not trim but it worked when I decreased the throttle. Can anyone guide me on how to solve this problem? Is it because it was not used for a very long time? There was also absolutely no alarm that sounded on the boat. The only issue I have noticed is that the engine was dying each time in the beginning each time we tried to move the throttle but after sometime it stopped but was then stuck at 3000rpm!!! Any help of advise would be very helpful. I did not have time to try it well as it was getting dark but I am planning to put it back again in the water soon so as to tackle the problem better.
