Battery size for a 1972 johnson
What size battery should I get for a 1972 Johnson 125? The battery would just start the engine.

Don't know what you have, or if your present battery is any good? They sell marine deep cycle batteries at all the walmarts, and auto part stores? How old is your present battery? Is it charging, and holding a charge? Can have it tested at same stores.

Then go buy a good marine deep cycle battery. If there is a battery box in place, take the measurements to make sure it fits. If plenty of room, make sure existing battery cables reach, with room for motor to turn, some cables only reach so far. Then consider adding a box to hold battery in place, needed in rougher waters. Most batteries have 700 - 850 CCA, should be good for your needs. Batteries only last so long, so you can get more years for warranty if you want. Also, any holes needed to mount the battery box need to be sealed, so plan for a good sealant at each hole.
