  • possible wiring issue

i recently had the starter on a tracker 25 rebuilt. i had to remove all wiring from solinode. after reinstalling starter & hooking up all wires as best i can remember, the starter will not operate. i,m not sure i,m wired correct. i have wiring on solenoid as follows. large red cable from starter to left large post, 2 small & 1 medium wires to top left small terminal. large red cable with boot on large rt terminal,2 smaller red wires that are attached together on same post. 1 small black & 1 small yellow wire with stripe on rt small top terminal. all of these wires are only long enough to reach where i have them. but not sure if wired right. if i cross the 2 large terminals with a jumper wire starter engages & turns flywheel. but i get nothing when using key. what have i done wrong? thanks

Might try and google a wiring schematic for your motor's starter. Something might jump up and show you similar wire connections.
In the future take a couple pics with phone before attempting, might save a lot of worrying, maybe money?

    Good luck.

          wire problem

ok heres an update. resolved wiring problem, however i have a new problem. when i tried to start engine i noticed that choke is closed. this should be open i think & only close when i push key in to choke? when i push key in i hear a click from from part that has red lever on top by carb.if i manually push down on rod attached to choke plate it starts. as soon as i release rod choke closes & engine dies. this has never happened before. any suggestions as to why choke is in closed position instead of open when i do not activate choke with key? thanks

What is the red lever? Is it in wrong position, is it a manual choke lever that should be in different position for automatic choke to work?

            Post back when able?

              starting issue

i found out that is the primer unit. red lever is pointed toward back, as it always has. when you push key in to choke does that work the plate in carb or just squirt gas into carb or engine? it looks like the rod i,m moving is not electoral does this open from air being drawn thru carb? not actually a chock, but a throttle plate?
