  • 2004 Johnson 140 4 strokes.....

Hey guys new to the site name is justin just got my first boat and it has twin Johnson 140's... Is there any issues with these motors?? The motors have 400 hrs which I think is pretty low .. I read they will go 2000 hrs on 4 stroke.. So if you guys have any info about these motors I would love to here it..

Ok Justin. First off, buying a boat isn't a small step, multiple motors makes it a bit larger a step. But take the boat to the dealer service center, and pay for the check up/ service on the motors. Ask the mechanic the questions you need to ask. But, you should always have compression, and leak down test run, as well as the history of the motors you purchase. These newer motors have/and are getting much better on all the diagnostics being displayed and how the motor has been used.
If you plan to keep the boat for a while, and truly want it to last, get the owners and service manuals for it, and read them.

Good luck, and happy boating, but be responsible.
