changing a 25hp Johnson over to electric start----73 model---starter will be new as well as other parts----will be selling these motors so trying to get by as cheap but safe as I can---been told to use 4 gauge or 4/0------but ive found different types of these--audio---auto---and so on----can buy 4 gauge audio for 20 dollars a 25 ft roll--------what can I use and still be cost wise and it will carry the amps

You should size by the amperage draw needed for that wiring. Check the starter used, and find out what the load requirements are. The distance between starter, solenoid, and battery also require consideration for sizing the wires. Many auto parts stores have starter, battery, load & wiring charts.
