  • Changing Tilt Hydraulic Fluid

    Hi,

I have a 19997 Johnson Oceanrunner 175hp two stroke, Runs great. I want to change the hydraulic fluid iin the tilt/trim mechanism. is there a drain plug for the system?

I have been flushing it out with new fluid and sucking some out with a shop vac rig I set up.

Just want to see if there is a correct way to do it.

    Saw this:

    Thanks!

Why do you want to change the fluid? There is usually no need to change it unless it has water in it. The only way to "change" the trim fluid is to tear down the unit and dump the fluid out and put it back together and refill with new fluid.

      thanks for the reply!!!

still seems to milky. water in it. also makes a squeaking/grinding noise for about a second at the half way up point only when raising it. maybe i need new seals.

I sucked it all out what I could with a shop vac with a small plastic tube mod, then refilled, cycled it up and down while pumping new fluid in.
        Good to go.
