Just picked up this good running 64 johnson for 150 bucks, it runs good, ugly but runs good. The reason for my post is I'm curious on why someone would put this hole in the top of the engine cowling, right above the carb. They cut a big hole and riveted a piece of tin on it, and cut the small round opening. I found an old replacement, but wonder if it will effect how the engine runs
