  • 2006 J175 Cooling water discharge pee hole

I have a 2006 Johnson J175PXSDD, and had limited water coming from pee hole. As I cannot locate a Cooling Water Flow Diagram, I have two questions.

    1. When the small diameter pee hole plug is removed, the water discharge hole is then about 5/8" and with the plug screwed out tons of water will exit with engine running. Does this water come directly from the water pump, bypassing the engine, and with the plug removed the engine is not getting adequate cooling water to the heads.

    2. Does anyone have a " Official Johnson/BRP " Cooling Water Flow diagram ", one that shows both thermostats, the pressure relief valve, and the exact route the water takes to go through engine and out exhaust and also out the pee hole for this specific 2006 Johnson 175 engine.

I don't have the water flow diagram... BUT... when the water exits the water pump, the first place the water hits is the area of the water telltale outlet. Your explanation indicates obviously that the line is clogged somewhere between the water exit at the engine and the actual visual outlet.... clean it.

And yes, as water is routed out of the engine to go elsewhere as you explained, some other are is going to run hotter.

      Thank you

Ok, that is what I suspected, my Clymer manual has no water flow diagram, so no way to trace or see the water flow routes in and out of engine.
Thanks again, and to all who read this, DO NOT MAKE THE PEE HOLE LARGER, DO NOT REMOVE THE PEE HOLE PLUG OTHER THAN FOR A BRIEF MINUTE OR TWO TO VERIFY THE WATER PUMP IS WORKING WELL, as it will then take cooling water away from the engine and provide LITTLE TO NO ENGINE COOLING AND IF LEFT THIS WAY FOR VERY LONG, DAMAGE YOUR ENGINE.

      Thank you
