Changed starter and solenoid and still won't crank. Checked voltage and everything is good but when I turn the key my battery cables get hot! Don't know what else to do!

The large battery cable getting hot is the clue that either the cable end terminals and the components they attach to need cleaning and tightening... OR... the cable is corroded internally.

Being tight BUT dirty results in a voltage drop when the power is needed. Think of it as 8 flashlight batteries that would register 12 volts... BUT... there's no way in hell that would crank over your starter.

Both battery cables are the same size nother sure if that would cause anything but even the ground on the block was smoking as was the positive in the solenoid and battery posts

When I say "large battery cable", I'm speaking of all of the major battery cables such as the positive cable to the starter solenoid, the cable from the solenoid to the starter, the negative cable to the powerhead ground... it was a manner of distinguishing the large cables from the other wiring associated with the starter circuit.

Re-read my previous reply, then clean the terminal ends as I suggested.

Remove all cables and wiring associated with the starter circuit including the battery terminals themselves, the negative ground at the powerhead, the starter solenoid, etc..... clean the terminal ends thoroughly along with the components they attach to, then tighten them all securely with a wrench or pliers, not your fingers if wing nuts are encountered.

If after that you still have a problem (smoking/melting/etc), you've got something hooked up very wrong and creating a dead short.
