Hello,
I am rebuilding my 2001 50hp 2 stroke lower unit.
I notice the screw above the oil fill goes into the opening where the driveshaft comes down from the motor, just above the bearing above the pinion gear.
What does this screw do ?
Is it a hole from casting the lower unit case, and the factory just threads it for a screw to plug it up ?
I can see the screw from the top of the casting looking down, I can not see it doing anything.
