    Johnson Tracker 40hp stuck in down position

    Hi there,

    Just bought a 90' Bass Tracker Pro 16 with a 90' Johnson 40 hp Tracker TJ40ELESF model outboard. Manual tilt/trim cable broken at the top lever. Everything I've seen online says it's common problem. I can't get it in the up position to repair/replace. It's on the trailer but no matter what I've done it feels like a locking pin or something will not let me lift it. Any help would sure be appreciated...

    The locking mechanism is hooked over and locked onto the reverse lock rod that goes through one of the various holes in the transom brackets..... secured there by a nut on each side as I remember it.

    Remove that rod.
