  • 2004-2005 Johnson 150 2-Stroke Engine Trouble

Hey all, this is my first post and hopefully a start in the right direction to getting my new engine running correctly. I just bought a boat with a Johnson 150 (j150pxsoe) on it. First, it wouldn't run so I brought it to a shop and they said there was water in the fuel. They cleaned the carbs and emptied the tank for me. I got it back and it ran once....brought it back to them and they said they still had water In the full and took care of it for me. I got it back and it runs...but...

1.) It smokes a ton at idle and after I run it for a while turn it off and try to turn it back on it takes like 4-5 tries to get it going.

2.) When I go wide open from idle the boat takes forever to react, terrible hole shot I guess is what I am trying to say.

3.) It is only getting up to 30mph, it was my brother-in-laws boat and he said it should be going 42-45.

    Any help would be appreciated....

No expert but if I'm not mistaken but 2 strokes don't have the greatest hole shot and also I would make sure you have the right pitch on the prop.
