  • RXL-16R 33hp 1968 No spark no manual

    HI-

We had a 33 Hp in storage for 15 years , had seized but managed to free it up nicely. Trying to track down a spark now and was hoping someone may point us in the right direction . We have tried the old plugs and new ones and nothing so far. Also if anyone has access or link to a free manual that would be great too.

    many thanks

    Mike

In storage for 15 years? I suspect the carburetor could use cleaning.

No spark?.... Clean the points and set them so that a .020 gauge will go through but a .022 will not. Always possible that the coils have cracked.

Be sure to torque the flywheel nut to 105 foot pounds when you reinstall the flywheel... anything less will result in a sheared flywheel key.

Thanks very much for the input. I found a cheap manual online for $4.95 vs the $50 ones I'd seen previously. Extremely well written. I'll use your advice. Once I'd found a spark I'd planned on a few other general overhaul bits too. One chap was selling full tune kit on ebay for $200 included coils head gasket, impeller , carb kit, plugs , leads all sorts that would likely cause you issues. thanks again will see how we go. will test kill switch etc first
