    motor identification

    i have a 78 evinrude 115hp, model number 115899C.
    my question is what is the c for..read somewhere it means counter rotation..what is that.
    just got into this motor have manual and am tearing down powerhead to replace crankcase gaskets.
    want to make sure iI get correct parts and understand what I have.
    any help would be appreciated, Thank Bill

    That last letter, in your case "C" is just a factory run ID which is of no consequence.

      Thanks....what about this "counter rotation" stuff,anything special or consequential for parts or operation.

        If you're asking if parts would interchange between the two... counter and regular rotation... I have no idea but not likely.

        In searching my memory, I do not recall any counter rotation models back in the 70's.
