I bought this motor last year and it ran but very badly and stalled a lot. I took it to the one guy in my area I could find who claimed to be able to repair them. He took off the head and pronounced it "too expensive to fix and the part is not available."
I took it apart, since it did not run anyway and it could not work worse. Someone had run it, I think, without enough oil in the gas and one piston had rubbed it's connecting rod on the crankshaft and worn it out.
I found a new crankshaft on ebay and a connecting rod at marine engine.com
When I tried to reassemble the pistons into the block, two of the rings cracked.
Marine engine does not list rings as available.
Does anyone know of a source for rings for this?
