  • 15hp johnson 4 stroke concerns

i have a a 2001-2001 15hp johnson 4 stroke outboard motor, never had any issues, started it this weekend at home, and noticed some water coming out from where it pivots on the main shaft. didn't know if this was normal or not. water was still coming out of the outport hole as normal at the rear of the motor. plus it was only running for a short time, 5 mins or so and the exterior of the housing got really hot. is this normal? if anyone can comment or let me know, would be great. thanks

It is not uncommon to see water come out around pivot, the exhaust water leaving engine runs back out through mid housing and will come out any number of places around mid section and lower unit. As long as it doesn't start overheating then it will be ok.
