I have a 2000 70 hp johnson motor and I think the timer base is bad. Im not getting any spark at all and the stator tested ok according to the cdi test procedure. I tested the timer also and the ohms reading is ok on the black to black/ white wire. But i am not getting any ohms to show up on the white to purple, white to blue,and the white to green wires. Does this mean the timer base is bad?

Is it possible that the trigger is ok even though i couldn't get a ohms reading on the white to purple, white to blue and white to green wires? I read in a post that the trigger needs voltage from the power pack to make it fire so is it possible that the power pack is bad and not the trigger? The white to white/black does show the correct ohms readin according to the cdi trouble shooting guide. -
I don't have the book on that (I assume you do). Pulling on memory, I think you should be getting about 17.5 ohms on those connections. Unless you have a bad meter connection, whatever... and that reading is accurate, then yes, that would indicate a bad timer base.Originally posted by Rtjoines View PostComment
